Barrie is a town situated somewhere in the center of Ontario, Canada. Statistics point that while being for the moment on 21st position on a list with the largest cities in this country, it is considered to continue growing fast. This can be a result of the fact that this is in a place where the population's density is the biggest, but my guess is that many Canadians have found there a place to have a nice life. Whether it's a place to live in or not, if things are peachy or sour, if job opportunities are great, though you can hardly say this about any other part of the world in these times, you should find out when looking for a job.
When working in Barrie
There are many job opportunities, from various fields, but there is another point - Canada is known for offering good working environments, so some of the most useful and also appreciated opportunities when working there are the following: paid vacation, paid civic holidays and paid statutory; opportunity of entering into some specific training or development programs; dental, healthcare or life plans; considerable benefits on retirement; flexible schedule and even assistance programs for your family.
Major employers work hand in hand with the city's economy and since we are talking about Barrie, here we go: one major hospital - Royal Victoria; a few banks: TD and Scotia; the bottling centre of Coca-Cola; Honda of Canada; Simcoe; City of Barrie. These are some of their major employers but imagine there are so many others if people from Toronto, which is approximately 90 km away, come here for employment opportunities.
If there's one thing that people die for here in Barrie, this is tourism. It is undoubtedly one of their most profitable industries, a massive source of attraction and therefore you could find yourself something to work in this area, especially during their famous festival of arts and crafts. The waterfront is a must for tourists. Plus they also have the Snow Valley, the St Louis Moonstone mount or Horseshoe Resort for skiing and the Kempenfelt Bay for all those boating lovers. Don't imagine I'm trying to make you come on holiday here; I am actually trying to show you how many opportunities are available to be exploited. Boating, water crafting, skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, snowmobile trails, hotels are viable options for those who have what it takes to work in these areas.
The first step
If you would like to consider Barrie as an opportunity for changing your life, the best thing to start with would be to make a visit there. You will convince yourself about the opportunities, you could buy some local magazines, you could visit some of their most prestigious companies and maybe leave them a CV. In short, you could get the pulse of the place. However before all these, it's important to see how the people are, what is the atmosphere like, how is it living there, what are the prices like, what you can get from there in comparison with what you need. Chances are you'll find something to your taste.
Of course, if you are more of an indoor person, you could use the internet so as to make yourself a first general impression. You can access plenty of websites with various offers, you can apply online, you can get in touch through the internet with some employers, you could even set yourself an interview and go for a straight target. But I'm telling you, even if you won't find a job there, visiting Barrie would be an interesting and joyful experience.
